We are well into the the Summer now and have met some phenomenal people and seen some amazing sunsets. As we have said before Omaha has a lot to offer the Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Community. Here are a few things we have noticed about the area…
Lake Zorinsky: is an awesome lake to SUP on. If you go to the far West end of the Lake there is a backwater channel that takes you far back into the woods. This is very cool to explore and its not uncommon to see dear, birds of all kinds and the good ole muskrat. Going after a huge rainstorm is particularly delightful as you can explore farther up and channel and see much more. The one drawback to Zorinsky is that it can get windy.
Standing Bear Lake: Standing Bear Lake is one of our favorite places to Stand Up Paddleboard in Omaha. The lake stays relatively calm even in high winds (as long as the wind is coming from the South or North). This is because the lake is skinny running North to South. Although it is smaller than Zorinsky it still offers many coves and backwaters to explore. The visibility tends to be a little more as well which makes it great for Night SUPing.
Here are some of our best pictures taken so far from the many Sunset Tours we have shared with some awesome people.
